IT ALL STARTED IN THE 80s: AUTRY SHOES

Just like some of the coolest music, art and fashion, the story and retro design of Autry shoes originated in the 80’s.
Established in Dallas, Texas, in 1982, Autry sneakers are widely known as “the shoe with the American flag”. Considered ‘cult’ sneakers nowadays, they were originally designed to satisfy the needs of tennis players and athletes alike. Soon enough, they drew the attention of the specialized press, when Tennis Magazine pronounced Autry’s Medalist as the best shoes of ‘85 in terms of design and technicalities.
Blending the court shoe and the casual trainer, the Medalist were specially conceived to play tennis and other sports that were popular at the time, such as jogging or aerobics. That was the initial idea, but, as it happens, this iconic style conquered the realms of streetwear and ended up achieving ‘cult’ status, just like a really good pop hit from the 80s.
Autry only designed a few styles, but it was the Medalist the one that got to outlive the 80’s.
In 2019, the brand was taken over by Alberto Raengo y Régis Billard, two French fans who took over the brand, inspired by the classic American eighties flair and bringing in the European ‘know-how’.
Since that moment, Autry has continued the production of the Medalist, a style that still remains as current as in the moment in which they were released, 40 years ago from today.
The Medalist are comfy, trendy and go with everything. They are suitable for every season of the year and be sported with jogger pants, denim, t-shirts, overshirts or chunky knits, they can take any outfit. These casual shoes will easily find their way into your wardrobe.
