NEVER-ENDING OUTDOOR SUMMER MEETINGS

It’s getting hot in here and we feel like sitting al fresco enjoying the company of our friends with a refreshing spritz. We are finally making some time to meet after the pandemic and a crazy year in which we probably were swamped. We are finally getting in the holiday mood and can’t get enough of those long days around the table, sharing food, drinks and playlists, filled with joie de vivre!
Aperitif happens in those slippery hours between noon and lunch time, when it’s socially acceptable to start with the drinks. Along with a vermouth or a beer, we recommend serving some light snacks to whet the appetite of your guests. Olives or anchovies will look especially appealing in the Mediterranean-inspired Cadaques bowl by DOIY. Especially designed for dipping, the Eclipse bowl from the same brand might inspire you to prepare some really nice homemade hummus.
As we move forward to luncheon, it’s time to pull out these deliciously colorful Rainbow plates by Hay, they will put a cute pastel note on your table. Also in mellow yellow, Hay’s enamel dishes in smaller size will be perfect for dessert, and they have a really pretty speckled pattern.
The Sicilia wire basket small in pink could be used as a bread basket and could also be combined with Hay’s pastel pink dishes.
Ideally, after lunch, a generous soul will get up and go to the kitchen to make coffee to keep going. Hay’s 1 Liter-French press brewer is the best option for a large group of people. This colorful take on a classic design brings in a fresh and summery note to your table as a beautiful and lazy afternoon unfolds before our eyes.
And right after coffee, comes the question: “Does anyone feel like having a drink?”, because we know how certain beverages encourage digestion while they also magically expand this time spent together around the table.
We are all about good design but we also care about sustainability, our tip is using cocktail straws by Hay. They have a sleek and colorful design and are made of borosilicate glass, so they are suitable for both cold and hot drinks and can be reused.
By the way, staying hydrated throughout the day is a must in the hot weather. We highly recommend you to keep a jug with fresh water like this marbled beauty or the amber pitcher designed by glass artist Jochen Holz.
As the sun sets, it’s time to create a more intimate atmosphere. Meraki scented candles will provide for many hours of soft, dim light and a delicate fragrance. To add more color to the table, we could also resort to Hay’s candle holders, as they come in a variety of refreshing colors such as mint, citrus and peach and can be paired with their funky striped candles.

At night, it’s time to drink a toast to the best of the seasons and to meet again to celebrate life and being together. These elegant blue wine glasses by Hay are just perfect for the occasion.
After spending a lovely summer day together, eating and drinking all sorts of refreshing beverages, it might get a little chilly at dusk. The Scope woven blanket by Carhartt Wip is not only great for decorating your home, but also comes in handy when temperatures go down.
