Carhartt Work In Progress (Carhartt WIP) is the contemporary approach of the Carhartt brand. The aim is to remodel the Carhartt's workwear legacy. In 1989, 100 years after Hamilton Carhartt established his business in Detroit, a Swiss citizen (Edwin Faeh) began importing a small selection of Carhartt workwear through his agency.

Founded in 1994, Carhartt Work In Progress Textilhandels GmbH (WIP) has set up a distribution network for Carhartt USA across Europe with the insertion of a range of classic products from the initial work clothes line.

In 1997 the first collection was designed exclusively by Work In Progress. Since then, Work In Progress (WIP) has carefully modified and adapted the cuts of the original work clothes to the demands of modern life.
