Phaidon

Phaidon Press is one of the world's leading publishers in the publication of books on visual arts, architecture, art, photography and design.

The company was founded in Vienna in 1923 by Bela Horowiz and Ludwig Goldscheider, with the fundamental objective of making high quality books at affordable prices. His first titles were not large-format art books but books about literature, art and history. The first large format art books, with large plates, were published for the first time in 1936, with prints by Van Gogh, Botticelli and French impressionists.
